Consolidation Test
Objective - Consolidation test is used to determine the rate and magnitude of soil consolidation when the soil is restrained laterally and loaded axially.
the method for conducting one dimensional consolidation test using either fixed or the floating ring for determining the consolidation characteristics of soil.
The Consolidation test is also referred to as Standard Oedometer test or One-dimensional compression test.
This test is performed to determine the consolidation properties of a given soil as listed below:
a) Co-efficient of compressibility
b) Co-efficient of volume change
c) Co-efficient of consolidation Cv
d) Compression Index
e) Pre-consolidation Pressure, Cc
f) Co-efficient of permeability, K
AS PER IS 2720 PART 15
- Co-efficient of compressibility
- Co-efficient of volume change
- Co-efficient of consolidation Cv
- Co-efficient of permeability, K
- Compression Index
